Sr Myriam McLaughlin celebrates her Golden Jubilee

“The Mass Rock at Dungiven Chapel came from our farm, so the grounds of our home place are blessed and very special to me.”

Sr Myriam McLaughlin of the Derry Community of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd celebrated her Golden Jubilee on Sunday 26 September 2021. A special Mass was held in her honour and attended by the Sisters in her community with Fr Michael Canny PP as celebrant. This was followed by a meal in her home.

Sr Myriam shared her thoughts with The Net as she reflected on her life over the past 50 years with the Good Shepherd Sisters, working in different ministries as a social worker and childcare worker work, including in Ethiopia where she was involved with women who were being trafficked.

Sr Myriam recalled how the sense of a religious vocation was present as a young girl growing up on the family farm where Penal Masses were said in one of the fields. “The Mass Rock at Dungiven Chapel came from our farm, so the grounds of our home place are blessed and very special to me.”
